HALO 4.

Today kicks off the start of the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo, otherwise known to geeks worldwide as "E3." Microsoft had their annual press conference this morning at 9:30AM PST. Microsoft showed off more Kinect integration to their format and games, more media outlets on the XBOX Live subscription, and showed off demos of a few of the biggest cross-platform games like Mass Effect 3 and Batman: Arkham City. However, the biggest news is that there is a possible new Halo trilogy with the release of the Halo 4 teaser trailer at the end of the conference.

The trailer shows where Halo 3 left off with overall badass Master Chief and cyber hottie Cortana escaping their ship and facing a bigger one, possibly being the Covenant mothership. Since Halo 3, there have been games that explored the Halo universe such as a RTS game like Halo Wars, and spin-off shooters like Halo: ODST and Halo: REACH. Halo 4 won't be handled by popular developers Bungie but will be under Microsoft's 343 Studio.

And if you didn't know already, Halo is one of the biggest first-person shooters not named Call of Duty. Unapproved by girlfriends, bonding time with the bros. Halo 4 is slated for a 2012 holiday release.

Lucky for us males, the imminent release of Modern Warfare 3 and Uncharted 3 in November is enough to keep us satiated for quite some time.

  1. This was definitely on e of the highlights of the press conference, other than the Halo reveal, Tomb Raiider, and Fable, Microsoft seemed preetty uneventful this year.

  2. Halo 4 reveal, Tomb Raider, and Fable look awesome, but you're right about the MS press conference this year. I guess they played it safe this year, building up the Kinect.

Sony is going to open up by apologizing about the PSN debacle and tell people about the Welcome Back program where it allows PSN users to download 2 PS3 and 2 PSP games for free, as well as free 30 days of Playstation Plus. Hopefully show off and reveal their growing list of exclusive titles. I have a feeling we're going to see God of War IV, and of course Kevin Butler.

Nintendo should have the most ammunition with their new console reveal.

Let's hope things pick up this week! This holiday season is going to make me more broke than I already am.

  3. This E3 definitely put my confidence in some games I wasn't sure of, Tomb Raider being one of them. It looks amazing. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim gameplay footage shown on G4 had me glued to the screen. Having already pre-ordered it, I almost bought it twice...
